Katherine Rex, Psy.D.
Dr. Katie Rex earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Oregon State University before attending the School of Professional Psychology at Pacific University, where she earned her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in child and family practice. Dr. Rex completed her graduate clinical training at Pacific University’s Psychological Service Center, where she provided individual therapy to adults, at Morrison Child & Family Services, where she provided individual, family, and group therapy to children and adolescents, and at OHSU’s Department of Psychiatry, where she served as a clinical interviewer and evaluator. Dr. Rex went on to complete her predoctoral internship through Morrison Child & Family Services at their Gresham Outpatient Clinic, where she provided therapy and conducted psychological evaluations. Dr. Rex then became a permanent staff member at the Gresham Outpatient Clinic, where she continued to provide therapy to children, adolescents, and their families. While at Morrison Child & Family Services, Dr. Rex also supervised doctoral-level psychology practicum students from Pacific University.
Dr. Rex enjoys working with children, adolescents, and their families. She practices from a cognitive-behavioral framework and finds that therapy is most effective when there is strong family involvement. Dr. Rex hopes that families will feels safe to explore challenges and comfortable to try out new strategies. She actively seeks out additional training to strengthen her ability to provide quality, evidence-based treatment. Dr. Rex has received specialized training in several treatments, including the Incredible Years, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Collaborative Problem Solving, and the Attachment, Regulation, and Competency model for trauma and chronic stress treatment.
While Dr. Rex considers her work one of her greatest passions, when she steps away from the office, you will likely find her reading, going on walks and hikes, visiting art museums, attending concerts, or traveling.
