Licensed Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Ryan Maxwell is board-certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and a Family Nurse Practitioner. He graduated with his Master of Science in Nursing from Baylor University and completed a post-master’s degree in Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins University. During his final semester at Baylor, he also spent time practicing in rural Ethiopia and received the distinguished Learn.Lead.Serve. award. Prior to graduate training, Ryan worked as a registered nurse in the surgical intensive care unit at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas.
Ryan specializes in providing psychiatric care for adolescents and adults (ages 15 and older). With a background focus in preventive medicine and regenerative orthopedics, he has an interest in getting to the root cause of a problem as a key step towards healing. He employs in a patient-centered, team-based approach to care as he encourages his patients towards wellness, providing supportive therapy and medication management if needed. He is licensed to work with individuals in Oregon and Washington.
Ryan is originally from Texas but moved to Oregon in 2014 to be closer to the mountains. He loves spending time outside with friends and family – he’s an avid swimmer, skier, cyclist and an aspiring kiteboarder. He is also a lover of art, visual and written. He enjoys reading most genres including science fiction, poetry and graphic novels.
